Teaching

In my teaching, I focus on three skills. First, students should be able to evaluate evidence: to tell an opinion from an argument and weigh claims against what supports them. Second, they should be able to engage with people who disagree, taking opposing views seriously without abandoning their own judgment. Third, they should be able to take on what is difficult rather than retreat from it.

My teaching interests include comparative political behavior, migration and citizenship, race and ethnic politics, European politics / EU politics, research methods, survey research, and mixed methods, among others. I have taught as an instructor and as a teaching assistant at the University of Illinois and Korea University. Teaching evaluations are available upon request.
